Tina Garofoli

Personal Statement: 

Hi! My name is Martina Garofoli, and I am in the class of 2026. Since I was little, I’ve always found a way to go outside or participate in any kind of sport. The sport of field hockey was unknown to me until I was 7 years old. I started to attend multiple tourneys, camps, and clinics and fell in love with it. What I love most about being a part of a team is the competitiveness, speed, and the friends I make. I started with the basics of how to hold a stick, to pull, and to hit on a rec league team and then progressed to playing on a varsity team where I learned the more tactical side of the game. All of these things contribute to my growth and my passion to play field hockey in college! Additionally, my desire, and ambition can really benefit the team in a positive way.

Although my main position is forward, I have also learned to adapt to different environments and positions like midfield. My ability to carry the ball into space, create attack, and purposefully shoot the ball helps with our team's success. Academically, I am an all-A-B honor roll student, and I always push myself to be the best student I can possibly be. Time management can feel stressful, but I always find a way to squeeze in my academic needs before or after extracurriculars. In the long run, I am a devoted scholar-athlete who will be a satisfactory fit for your program and will do everything I can to be successful.
