Personal Statement:
One thing that really sets me apart from other players is my dedication and leadership. I didn't start playing field hockey seriously until seventh grade and have had to work hard to catch up with others who've been playing for much longer and at a higher level. I also have had to do much of this on my own because of where I live. In Winston-Salem, field hockey is still a growing sport: my high school team is more inexperienced than a lot of the teams in Charlotte. But this has given me more of an opportunity to be a leader, even as an underclassman, and to encourage and help my teammates. I also recently made the decision that I had to challenge myself if I really wanted to grow as a player, so I transitioned from a smaller club closer to my house to Charlotte Ambush, which is a ninety-minute drive (one way) from my house. The dedication and love of the sport that this shows makes me a valuable addition to any team because I will always keep working to improve and never settle.
